The project
Made in 2026 through an agency for TV 2's adventure show Først til Verdens Ende, this is a one-off award for the winner of the series. Only one was ever produced, so there was no series to design around and every decision could be made for this single object.
The approach
The show is about racing to the end of the earth, which points straight at a globe, and about the hardship of getting there, which points at mountains. Setting one on top of the other gives the entire premise of the programme in a single silhouette, readable on camera in the moment it is handed over. For an award that will be seen mainly through a lens, that silhouette matters more than any detail.
How it was made
The globe is built from layered laser cut acrylic, with a blue disc behind and white continents cut and set in front of it, so the earth has real depth rather than being printed onto a flat face. The base is cut from solid untreated oak into mountain shapes and left pale and raw. The show's name, its logo, and line work representing snow on the slopes are engraved into the front face of the base. The finished award stands around 20 cm tall.
Where the same approach works
A single award is a different job from a series. Nothing has to be repeatable, so the design can chase the specific idea rather than the reproducible one, and all the effort goes into one object instead of being spread across ten. The same approach suits one-off trophies, broadcast and television awards, presentation gifts, and commissions where there is only ever going to be one.
