From an idea to something you can hold.

Everything physical around you was once an idea. The chair you sit on, the tools you use, the building you walk into: each one started in someone's head. Design is what turns an idea into something real, by giving it a shape, a material and a way to be made. That is what Idea Design does, and where the name comes from.

How it started

Test the idea early.

Idea Design was founded in Copenhagen in 2022 by Ignas Valavicius, who studied product development, industrial design and production technology and spent years working in product development before starting the studio.

The way of working comes from that experience: test an idea early, before time and money go into detailing something that might not work. Make it quickly, put it in someone's hands, learn what it needs, then refine it. A quick prototype answers questions a drawing cannot, and shows early whether an idea is worth pursuing or whether the approach should change.

The same approach runs through every project today, from medtech prototypes and product lines to architectural models and awards.
